Alert issued over phishing scam

People are being warned to stay alert to 'phishing' scammers pretending to be from well-known businesses and government departments trying to con victims.

The ACCC has received more than 11,000 reports of this scam in 2017, and over $250,000 has been lost.

Phishing scams are the most common scam reported.

In the last week CrimeNet has recieved reports of phishing scams targeting banking customers via SMS, and youtube users via Facebook.

Scammers aim to defraud victims of money and personal information.
